Compare and contrast the lever-action firearm with the bolt-Action and single-shot firearm.

When working with a lever action firearm you do have a number of issues that you would not see with single shot or bolt action firearms. Most bolt action firearms are magazine fed so making sure it is stripping and feeding correctly is important but as far as the action goes, the bolt and trigger assemblies can be rather simple to deal with. With most Single shot firearms they are even easier to troubleshoot because it is usually a break action and doesn't include many moving parts. But when we get into troubleshooting lever action firearms there is a lot more moving parts. The lever action rifle has been around for a long time and the number of parts varies depending on the make, model, and year of production. In most cases the lever action is tube fed and that has its own set of issues especially if it has a side loading gate. On occasion the round is not pushed all the way in the feeding tube to catch but has made it past the loading gate and the ammunition gets stuck behind the gate preventing the user from loading another round until the malfunction is cleared. If loaded and cocked correctly, the elevator or lifter bar drops down to the feeding tube and the tube will eject one round for chambering. When the lever is closed it should lift the ammunition and the bolt face should push the aligned round into the chamber of the barrel. If this lifter bar doesn't drop or lift then it will not cycle ammunition and will not fire. The number of moving parts is vastly different from most bolt or single shot firearms. Depending on the make, model and year of the firearm you may run into a number of different issues and these are just a few you wouldn't see on those other platforms.
