Continuing with this line of thinking and considering specifically what the market is like in my location is a little tougher than picking 3 marketing ideas in general. I am located about 10 miles from a large Army base here in Texas. This means we have a general population that is comprised of a large majority of soldiers that need to be able to shoot. That sounds great, especially for a live fire facility but it has its drawbacks as well. Soldiers being stationed here may be here for a few years at best before moving on to another duty station or getting out entirely. Landing a customer doesn’t always mean a customer for life even if you provide the best services and have the best facilities. This also means that the same marketing techniques that worked before may not work on a new portion of the population that has just arrived.
On the other hand, we have a decent sized portion of the local population who is retired and still love to go shooting for recreation. These individuals are beyond their years of golf and contact sports and find pleasure in shooting. Working a senior discount into the daily range rate may initially mean less income but knowing that some of these people live on a strict budget and making it readily affordable means more visits to the facility. At any rate or age, I will run into one major issue with my location here in Texas and that is everyone’s ability to just shoot on their own properties. Usually when the weather gets nicer the indoor gun ranges here in Texas see a decrease in foot traffic for this exact reason. The public sees this type of business as necessary and to make this point, I would like to point out that during the Covid epidemic when a lot of local businesses were forced to shut down, Texas labeled shooting ranges as essential businesses, and they were able to push on.
