What are some common methods for clearing the feed source for single & double action revolvers?

The feed source on both single and double action revolvers is the cylinder that locks into the

frame. Clearing the double action revolvers usually is as simple as pushing or pulling the cylinder release button and using your other hand push the cylinder out of the frame. After physically and visually inspecting for the presence of ammunition, if ammo is present, keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction, tip the muzzle up and press down on the ejector bar connected to the cylinder and swing arm. This should drop any rounds out of their chambers but remember to double check. With a single action revolver you can remove the cylinder but this may not be the best way to clear the firearm and is usually done to clean the cylinder. Keeping the firearm pointed in a safe direction quarter or half cock the hammer and open the loading gate located on the side of the frame. Then turn the cylinder until you have inspected each chamber for ammunition. If a round is present in one of the chambers, use the ejector rod located just under the barrel and a spring-loaded rod will push the round out one at a time.
