List One Specific Type of Firearms Business and Who your Customers Should Be.
As I have managed two different Gun Ranges in the past, I believe this is the type of firearms business I would like to start. This means I will need an FFL to buy, sell, rent, gunsmith, and manufacture firearms. If I were to describe the layout of the facility, it would have two different shooting bays to handle a large customer base and to allow courses to be run while also having a space for walk-ins to shoot. I would keep a minimum of two classrooms to rotate classes out

What I believe the demand might be for firearms in my location, and does this match the ones I sell?
Describe what you believe the demand might be for firearms in your location, and does this match the types of firearms your firearms business would sell? Here in Texas there will always be a demand for firearms. Once the state changed its laws last year making Texas a permit less carry state, sales for smaller, easy to conceal handguns went up. Usually around the different hunting seasons you will also see a rise is specific sales such as shotguns when its time to bird hunt

Practicing a guided investigation of malfunctions using multiple firearms.
1.To properly make a firearm safe, what checks would you perform? Making sure the firearm stays pointed in a safe direction. Remove the firearms feeding source. Open the action and inspect for ammunition. If the firearm has a safety selector switch, make sure it is in the safe position before moving on. 2.In the Browning Auto 5 long recoil platform, at what point in the movement of the action parts is the spent case ejected and where is the ejector located? Now this is an int

Four visual characteristics that the firearms professional can use to identify a modern finish.
Way back in the day there were only a few methods of conversion coating they could use to finish the firearms, so it was fairly easy to identify what ones were applied to the firearm but today is a different story all together. These days you have Duracoat and Cerakote spray on finishes, Hydro Dip designs that can be laid directly on the parts, different plating, and anodizing type coats and more. The old coatings may still be easy to identify because they won’t usually give

Presenting the customer with options (rebarelling vs. lapping) the customer has requested lapping.
A customer returned to your shop and informs me that his customized Remington M700’s shot groups have considerably increased over his last few range sessions. While inspecting the bore, I notice severe pitting from the chamber through to approximately 10” down the barrel. The customer informs me that he has recently started shooting corrosive surplus ammunition. After presenting the customer with his options (rebarelling vs. lapping) the customer has requested I lap his barre

Your customer has requested you service his favorite family heirloom - a World War II Arisaka Type 2
Your customer has requested you service his favorite family heirloom - a World War II Arisaka Type 2 Paratrooper rifle (also called aTERA - Teishin Rakkasan Assault/Raiding Paratrooper). After you take note of the serial number, you notice the retaining pin used to secure the barrel/forearm assembly to the receiver appears to be missing the D-ring. The D-ring is intended to aid the shooter in pulling the wedge to disassemble the rifle for transportation. After bringing it to

Considering the time, and expense that goes into accurizing a firearm where do you draw the line?
I tell people constantly that you don’t need a $3,000 rifle, you need a $500 rifle and about $2,500 worth of training. If I hand the customer a rifle, I know is capable of tight groups at long ranges and they can’t shoot at least a 1-inch group at 50 yards then I usually recommend they take some rifle training and get back to the basics. Something as simple as their breathing could be all that they are doing wrong and a few classes later they can achieve the hits they want. T

Provide a detailed explanation of the soldering process used to install the ribs on a shotgun barrel
When we start talking about adding ribs to a shotgun barrel, it is important to note that there are a number of ways to go about attaching them to your firearm. Two of the most common include a less permanent epoxy method and what can be the tedious soldering method. To summarize the epoxy method, all you would need to do is rough up the spots the ribs touch the barrel, mix your epoxy and apply to the surfaces. Then just attach it to the barrel making sure it stays straight d

When Bedding a Rifle, Will you free-float the entire barrel? Why or why not?
Explain to the customer what you will be doing to her rifle during the bedding process. If I were to explain to the customer what steps I would need to take to correctly bed their rifle, I would probably begin with the preparation it takes before applying the bedding compound. I would let them know that things like tape and putty would be used in order to prevent seepage that can be difficult to remove later on. I may need to explain what a pillar is and why I may need to us

When creating thermoformed holsters for sale to the general public, what would your set-up be like?
The funny thing is that I have already started selling thermoformed holsters to the public at the live fire facility I currently work out of. Yes, someone who has just learned this type of holster making and has already bought more equipment than probably what’s really needed can immediately begin selling their work and I became that guy because of the course I took with SDI. I converted an old storage room in the facility I worked at and then I had a space to begin my work a
